GORILLA conference attendance by AUDA-NEPAD Water Centres of Excellence funded by ACEWATER III project (African Centres of Excellence in Water)

Between 27 November 2024 – 6 December 2024, partners in the ACEWATER III project participated in three events, as part of the GORILLA (Geographical Science for Resilient Communities, Ecosystems and Livelihoods under Global Environmental Change) conference in Kampala, Uganda. The events were hosted by Makerere University.

Science Forum South Africa 2025

On 5 December 2025, Dr Nico Elema, Director of the Centre for Collaboration in Africa participated in the Science Forum South Africa in Pretoria, South Africa. As Programme Director of the AUDA-NEPAD Southern African Network of Water Centres of Excellence (and lead of the ACEWATER-III project), he provided insights on how they are able to mobilise large research networks accross Africa. The panel discussion was led by Ms Petunia Ramunenyiwa from the SOuth Africa Department of Water and Sanitation, with panel members from various institutions such as the CSIR, ORASECOM, IMACOM, DBSA and IMWI

AUDA-NEPAD SANWATCE in full force at the annual WaterNet/WARFSA/GWP-SA Symposium in Maseru, Lesotho (30 October 2024 to 1 November 2024)

As co-convenor of the WaterNet/WARFSA/GWP-SA Symposium, partners from the AUDA-NEPAD Southern African Network of Water Centres of Excellence (SANWATCE) took part in the annual Symposium which took place in Maseru, Lesotho, between 30 October 2024 and 1 November 2024, with members of the AUDA-NEPAD Southern African Network of Water Centres of Excellence taking part in various sessions of the symposium. As the most prominent platform to showcase the latest research from universities and research institutions across Southern- and Eastern Africa, the Symposium further provides an excellent opportunity to engage with decision-makers and other stakeholders.
