Emerging scholars from the National University of Science and Technology Zimbabwe, present research in Bulawayo.

On 8 May 2025, the Bulawayo City Council invited three emerging scholars from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) to make presentations at a seminar to fellow researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and industry players.

Their research focuses on Acid mine drainage remediation and micro plastic pollution.

Such presentations not only validate research findings but also provide researchers with the opportunity to engage with stakeholders, who can influence policies. In addition, these engagements also build capacity amongst the emerging scholars, and we look forward to see what impact their research will have.

The research team is led by Dr Langa Moyo, and the students were supported and guided by Dr T Ncube, Director of Research and Innovation at NUST, who is also one of the team members.

In addition, watch the following video to better understand the context of the research and challenges local communities are facing with polluted mine effluent water.

The research is undertaken within the framework of the ACEWATER III project, which is funded by the European Commission.
