Building capacity though the Africa Doctoral Academy and the ACEWATER III project

As part of the research and capacity development activities in the ACEWATER III project, five post-graduate students and staff from three AUDA-NEPAD Water centres of excellence attended courses offered by the Africa Doctoral Academy (ADA). The courses were offered between 22 January 2025 and 7 February 2025 and offered at Stellenbosch, South Africa The following colleagues attended courses across three weeks.

Week 1: 22-24 January 2025

  1. Nomvuyo Tshuma from NUST (National University of Science and Technology) Zimbabwe attended an online training on Working with Research Data: Software & digital tools for applied research.

Week 2: 27-31 January 2025

  • Ms. Sanele Rabi from NUST Zimbabwe attended an in-person Writing Retreat: Effective Academic Writing for Master’s and Doctoral Students.
  • Dr. Langa Moyo from NUST Zimbabwe attended an online workshop The Quantitative PhD with SPSS: From philosophy to study design, data analysis and reporting.

Week 3: 3-7 February 2025

  • Ms. Nomvuyo Tshuma from NUST Zim, Mr. Mamo Sisay from Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia and Mr. Vimal Mungul from the University of Mauritius attended an in-person training on Academic Writing for Publications: Crafting an article out of your thesis.
  • Dr. Langa Moyo from NUST Zimbabwe attended an in-person training on From Stories to Science: The fundamentals of qualitative research.
