The new Water and Environmental Resources minister Ephraim Kamuntu has embarked on his new assignment with cautions to his team members to work hard.
During the handover ceremony at the Ministry offices in Luzira Port Bell Road today, the former Tourism minister told the ministry engineers to value their professionals by producing results.
“You are the initiators, beneficiaries and engineers of this transformation, let’s not be impressive in titles but in delivering, the terms will be according to service delivery not titles.” He said
Kamuntu said that the Ministry can’t accept people to be fetchers of water at the time when they have to be productive and emphasized that it is imperative for them to work as a team.
He cited that some of the causes of the waterborne diseases arise from sending children to fetch water in rural and urban areas because they have no access to safe water.
“As a ministry, we have to ensure that no woman or a child fetches water because they eventually end up with dirty water.”
Ephraim Kamuntu has been the Minister for Tourism, wildlife and Heritage before he was switched to water and environmental resources. He said that he will work together with the outgoing minister Maria Mutagamba.
