South Africa: Cabinet agrees to SIP on water

Cape Town – This week’s Cabinet lekgotla has agreed to a new strategic integrated project (SIP) on water and sanitation, Performance Monitoring and Evaluation Minister Collins Chabane said on Friday.

The project was aimed at addressing the country’s immediate and long-term water and sanitation needs, he told reporters in Pretoria and at Parliament.

“It called on all spheres of government to strengthen implementation and enhance the localisation programme for components and supplies of infrastructure inputs.”

Projects that supported regional integration would receive special attention, Chabane said.
