Nigeria: Senator Yar’Adua Drills 33 Boreholes for Constituents

Katsina — Senator Abubakar Sadiq Yar’adua has constructed 33 boreholes in 11 Local Government Areas of Katsina state in a bid to alleviate suffering of his constituents with regards to access to safe drinking water.

Commissioning three of the 33 boreholes yesterday in Katsina, Yar’adua said three boreholes were constructed at different locations in each of the 11 local government areas under his constituency.

“I have noticed with displeasure the suffering of my people with respect to access to safe water for their domestic use. With these 33 boreholes spread across my constituency, people will get drinking water with ease,” he said.

Represented by a Congress for Progressive Change (CPC)’s elder, Alhaji Muntari Lawal, Yar’adua urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the facilities, saying, “the boreholes are for you and therefore you should safeguard them.”

He said while most of the boreholes were completed, the few that are not completed have reached 85 percent of completion.

The three boreholes commissioned in Katsina local government area were located at Sabon-Layi, Rafukka and Lantarkin Malam Mudi.

Responding on behalf of Sabon-Layi community, Alhaji Sani Rayuwa commended the Senator for the gesture and called on other National Assembly members to emulate him in that respect.
