THE African Development Bank has allocated Sh4 billion to a water project in Siaya town. The implementation will begin in January and will take 15 months.
The project will involve supplying water from Ndanu Falls to Bondo and Siaya towns. Siaya-Bondo Water and Sanitation Company acting managing director Edwin Omondi told the Star the project will supply water to more than 200,000 residents.
He said the contract has been signed between a contractor and AfDB. “Sibo will only do a supervisory role until the project is successfully completed,” added Omondi.
Omondi, however, said the acute water shortage experienced in the town last week followed the move by Kenya Power to disconnect electricity after the government failed to pay the power bill on time.
