Africa Energy Indaba delegates will receive CPD credits

The 2013 Africa Energy Indaba (AEI), which is endorsed by the World Energy Council (WEC) and the South African National Energy Association (SANEA), has received yet another acknowledgement of the value it offers to delegates who attend the next annual conference and exhibition.

Africa’s premiere energy event has secured Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits for all registered engineers who attend the three-day conference and exhibition in February 2013 at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is responsible for regulating the practice of engineering in South Africa and they administer CPD credits for educational courses and career-enhancing events that assist engineers in keeping abreast of new developments and knowledge in their areas of expertise.

According to Liz Hart, the managing director of Africa Energy Indaba, “To secure CDP accreditation for the third year in a row demonstrates the quality of the content of the Africa Energy Indaba and the 2013 event bodes well with a comprehensive programme. The credit quota certainly adds greater value for qualified professionals to attend this forum.”

Through the CPD system, the ECSA seeks to assist with the creation of a culture of learning and world-class excellence for the South African engineering profession. CPD runs in five-year cycles, during which period every registered person is required to accumulate 25 credits in order to retain registration.

The fact that engineering delegates attending the fifth annual AEI will receive two CPD credits for attending shows that the engineering body recognises the high standard and quality of the Africa Energy Indaba programme and speakers.
Professional, technical and organisational leadership has been at the core of the AEI since its inception in 2009.

Based on its track record, the three-day conference and exhibition event was officially adopted by the World Energy Council (WEC) as its African regional event in 2011 and it receives global recognition as the foremost event for energy professionals on the continent.
The 2013 forum is set to be the Energy Indaba’s most influential and its programme will offer some exciting new additions, says Hart.

“Delegates can look forward to added participation from energy representatives from across Africa, increased side events such as the Annual Nuclear Forum, the Africa Energy Projects Roundtable and a Transport in Energy panel discussion.”
